The Interim Pastor at Westhampton Baptist Church

Bob Turner,
Interim Pastor

When you visit a new church, what do you hope to find - a worship service in which you feel spiritually comforted and challenged; people who assure you that you are welcome and important to them; a pastor who seems genuinely glad to have you visit?

At Westhampton, we know we are small in numbers but we feel we are big in spirit and serious about being God's people at work to advance His Kingdom on this earth. We are a friendly, loving, caring Christian fellowship of believers who want to grow to Christ likeness and in membership.

We hope you find this web site indicative of the fact that we are people-friendly and Christ-committed. We are anxious to have new people join us in worship, education and ministry.

At Westhampton Baptist Church, we feel blessed by having you visit our web site and hope you will visit us in person to be blessed by God and let God bless others through you.

A Message from The Mission Field from Our Own Elizabeth Boone

Dear Westhampton Baptist Family,

I made it to Louisiana last Monday and have been having a blast ever since! I’m in Port Sulphur, a tiny little town on a peninsula south of New Orleans. I’m living in a room in a bunk house on the Church property which is set up for mission groups who come here to work on houses being rebuilt after Katrina. From my window I can see the levee over the marshes which continue for about 15 miles until the Gulf of Mexico. In the other direction, there’s about 100 yards from the Church to the Mississippi River.

I’m working on everything from helping mission crews at the construction sites to helping the church secretary organize the financial records into a computer program to planning a Bible Day Camp for kids in the Parish who don’t know about Christ.

The people here are wonderful too, and I’ve really enjoyed learning about Cajun culture (I’m trying to remember my French) and listening to people’s stories about “the storm.” You can really see how God is at work here. There’s so much joy amidst the tragedy.

I feel like I learn something or experience something new every day. I’ve peeled shrimp for gumbo with a Cajun, listened to stories of faith from a mission group from Mississippi, and learned to work a nail gun in the past week. I’m really busy with all the opportunities to serve, but I’m certainly never bored.

I miss you all, though. The picture that we took when we went out for brunch on my last Sunday is hanging up next to my bed here so I can constantly remember my church family.

With Love in Christ,

Elizabeth Boone

Please keep Elizabeth and her work in your thoughts and prayers.

Sincerely In Christ

Rev. Robert M. Turner
