The Desk of
Rev. Bob Turner: From Our Pastor
Easter Sunday we were reminded that the spirit of the risen Lord is alive and powerful to move the church forward in our times.
There is ample evidence that the risen Lord is making his home with us at Westhampton Baptist. Wonderful things are happening in the appearance of our buildings and grounds, the colorful and inviting banner displayed on the front lawn, an ever growing children's ministry with their own worship service and joyous music and missions. We have seen new members join us some of whom have been baptized in to our fellowship with others soon to follow. Our ESL and mission groups are reaching out to those in need with concrete evidence of God's love for them. The adult voice and bell choirs have inspired us with words and sounds that help us focus on the truths of the Gospel. The attendance at worship services is encouraging as an indication that more of our members are grateful for God's blessings.
I am sharing these thoughts because it is time for our nominating committee to search for church members willing to serve on the various committees whose work is vital to the future of Westhampton Baptist.
To quote a Gatorade commercial, "Is it in you?" Are you willing to put hands and feet to your prayers by signing up to serve your living Lord on one of its many committees of our Church?
On Sunday, April 20th we will observe "Commitment Sunday." Following the eleven o'clock service we will move to the Fellowship Hall for a luncheon followed by a period of "signing up" for the committees of our church. Please prayerfully consider if God could bless others by using your ideas and skills as you serve on a committee. Remember, our Lord said, "If you love me, feed my sheep."
