Hello Kids & Grown-ups,May 5, 2008
Cinco de Mayo
Birthday GirlHappy “Cinco de Mayo” and especially a Happy Birthday to our own Brooke Turner!! Children’s Church was awesome again yesterday. We started in Big Church as we witnessed a baptism, then we continued our lessons on the Life of Jesus.
This week was about Peter and Simon leaving their fishing and become “fisher’s of men”. The children enjoyed the story and it opened up many questions that they asked and explored.

Smiles to You!
After our lesson we enjoyed crafting our own Rainbow Fish followed by the ever so popular word search puzzle. We welcomed 3 new members to the Children’s Church attendance chart today.
These 3 girls have been coming on a regular basis, but had been signing in as visitors. Today we officially welcomed Anna, Brooke & Raquel as regular members to our group. This puts the Children’s Church roster at 13 children.
After church, some of the children participated in a mission project to promote an event taking place at the church on May 18.
There were 8 children and 3 adults. We started out by enjoying pizza for lunch, then we walked around a neighborhood and distributed over 100 flyers.
The children seemed to really enjoy this event. Many thanks to Linda and Donna for your help and supervision with the children.
An Important Note From Miss Carol: The children will be rehearsing for their program to be presented Sunday, 5/11, Mothers Day. They will rehearse Wednesday night at 6:30pm and Sunday morning during Sunday School time, around 9:45am. Please, Please, Please make a special effort to get them to church on these 2 dates so we can polish up on our gift. Thank you all for the opportunity to enjoy your children!
Schedule:
May 11 & 18 – NO!! – These are 2 special days at Church for the children so there will not be Children’s Church on these dates.
May 25 – Yes! – We will resume Children’s Church with a special lesson observing Memorial Day.
Up & Coming Children’s Events:
PLEASE make an extra effort to get the children to Wednesday night choir by 6:30pm, as they are practicing for their Children’s Program to be presented on Mother’s Day, May 11, during worship service.

On Sunday, May 4, the children will have lunch together after church and then will walk around the neighborhood distributing flyers about the upcoming music special on May 18 at our church.

On Sunday, May 11, which is Mother’s Day, The children and youth will present their music program during the worship service. Please make plans to be there and enjoy what promises to be a wonderful event.

On Friday, June 13, the children will have a “Lock-in” sleep over at the church. We will gather that evening for an Ice Cream Social with our church family. After the adults leave we will put on our PJ’s and enjoy a movie. Then we will have some games before we settle down for the night. Adult supervision is needed. If you and/or your child can join us, please let Tom know so we can plan accordingly.

On Tuesday, July 15 the children will be going on a bowling trip. It will be in the afternoon. More details will come out soon, just save the date!!

August 4 – August 8 Vacation Bible School- mark your calendars for another fun filled week. This year’s theme is “SonWorld” featuring a western look.

On Tuesday, August 19, the children will be going swimming at Cobblestone Park. This will be an all day event from around 10am until 3pm. Keep this date open for your child as this will be something they won’t want to miss!
